Inside it was a full house.. Mel White and dozens of his Soulforce members mixed with the regular crowd at Thomas Road.. all under the watchful eyes of the local police.
But two days of protests ended without incident, and Falwell repeated his message that conservative Christians are now ready to extend a hand of friendship to the gay community.

Appomattox County schools will hold a moment of silence every morning beginning next Monday.
The school board approved the measure by a unanimous vote last week.
Students will be allowed to meditate, pray or engage in any other silent activity that doesn't interfere with or distract other students.
But the chairman of the school board says he might still push for a moment of prayer.
