The couples daughter Heather says her parents are good people --- and wouldn't just shoot someone for no reason --

that they were protecting themselves.
She says for the past couple of months her parents were being stalked -- although it turned out not to be this man -- that their fear played a part in the shooting.

52 year old William Arthur Staley of Roanoke was shot once just below his ribs, standing outside of his vehicle.
Roanoke City police have charged 41 year old Deanne Lynn Beverly with firing the shot.
Her husband 45 year old Cass Edward Beverly was charged in connection with the shooting.
Both live in Florida, but are former Roanoke residents.
Police say they believe a confrontation between the victim and the suspects led to the shooting.
Deanne Beverly's daughter Heather agrees with police.

A fatal car accident on Interstate 81 has blocked the south bound lane of traffic.
It happened shortly after 10 o'clock at the 139 mile marker near the Salem exit.
It's NOT yet clear how the accident happened but a car and a tractor trailer were involved.
Apparently the car overturned and went down the embankment.
We'll have more details as they become available.

A Winchester police officer died early today after being shot while chasing someone on foot. 32 year old Sergeant Ricky Timbrook was shot in the head shortly before midnight and died at a hospital about a half hour later. Police called in SWAT teams and evacuated nearby residents while they conducted a house to house search for the suspect. After several hours authorities found 35 year old Edward Bell of Winchester hiding in the basement of a home. He is being held without bond on a burglary charge.

Chafee died Sunday from heart failure, he was 77 years old.

NARR: For the past year and a half, Colombian police say, they've been looking into disappearances of children all over the country. They say Garavito confessed after being confronted with evidence they describe as overwhelming. Detectives say they've found 114 bodies so far.
NARR: Many of the children's bodies were found tied up with identical nylon rope, with a liquor bottle nearby. Their throats had been cut. The bodies of 25 young boys were found in one ravine, in Pereira, in the cofee growing region of Colombia.

Luray Caverns span 64 acres.
The oldest of its calcite formations is seven million years old.

But there's a lot more to Luray than just exploring the caverns.

On their next drive quarterback Ryan McGregor gives the ball to Matt Divine he runs left and scores the T-D from 16 yards out to make it 12 to nothing.
