We thought it was a joke at first, because this is the last thing you think of Police immediately conducted a massive search for the suspect going door to door and using guard dogs. Authorities also locked down several schools in the area north of downtown Seattle as the suspect remained at large. Shepard died in the hospital five days later.
McKinney could get the death penalty. The penalty phase of the trial begins tomorrow.
