The man who is most likely to be the next president of Virginia Tech is already a top university official at Tech.

Sources tell News-7 that the board of visitors is set to name Charles (STEE-gur) Steger as Tech's 15th president at its meeting on Monday.

Steger is currently the school's vice president for development and university relations.

Steger was one of three candidates the search committee interviewed for the post last month in northern Virginia.

He was in charge of the most successful fundraising campaign Virginia Tech has ever had, bringing in more than 334-million dollars.
A spokesman for Virginia Tech refused to comment, except to say that the board will meet this Monday and is expected to select a new president.
Steger would replace Paul Torgersen, who is stepping down at the end of next month after five years in office.
