Amherst Delegate Vance Wilkins is on his way to becoming Virginia's first Republican speaker of the house.
Yesterday, the House Republican Caucus nominated Wilkins for the post during a closed meeting in Richmond.
All that's needed to secure the spot, is for all 53- members of the caucus to vote for Wilkins when the 100- member house elects a speaker on the first day of the two thousand general assembly.
