Authorities in Montgomery County expect a brush fire there to smolder over the next few days.
Forestry officials say the blaze at the base of Christiansburg Mountain is contained.
A helicopter was brought in to drop water over the site and a fire line was also established.
Both helped keep the flames from spreading.
