Authorities in Montgomery County expect a brush fire there to smolder over the next few days.
Forestry officials say the blaze at the base of Christiansburg Mountain is contained.
A helicopter was brought in to drop water over the site and a fire line was also established.
Both helped keep the flames from spreading.
Authorities say a passing train may have sparked the flames that burned about four acres.

Danville tobacco farmers are uncertain of the future of their crops after the market closed yesterday.

And worries about the COMING year are on the farmers' minds.
Warehouse owners and farmers say they're bracing for another cut in what the government allows them to grow. In the last two years, they've had to cut back 35 percent.
That's because demand for tobacco is down.
And, farmers say, so is their morale.

A grand jury in Pulaski County has indicted a woman for allegedly trying to hire someone to commit murder.

A Danville man who was accused in the beating death of his baby son has reportedly committed suicide.

Police say the body of 19-year-old Jonathan Lakensay Chavious (Sha-VOSS) was found yesterday morning inside the apartment he shared with the baby and its mother.
The baby's mother, LaShanda Terrell Stamps, is being held in the Danville jail ... charged with felony child neglect.
Police say the baby was already dead when Stamps brought it to the hospital more than a week ago.
