They robbed the First Virginia Bank branch on 419 at gunpoint this afternoon. Witnesses say a white man and an African-American- -each around 20 years old- -entered the bank wearing fake beards and blue jumpsuits. When the robbers got to their car, the dye pack discharged, spraying the bandits with red dye. The two men left their dye-stained clothing behind and fled.

The driver of the school bus that ran off the road in Bedford County Wednesday is doing better today.

The wreck sent more than a dozen people - most of them elementary-school students - to the hospital.
Ferris Booth apparently blacked out at the wheel, and the bus he was driving hit a tree.
He was in critical condition, but is now listed in serious condition.

A week after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Patrick County's financially unstable hospital is appealing to local residents to aid in its recovery.

Hospital administrators at Patrick Community Hospital say they're opening an account to accept donations at Crestar Bank in Stuart.
They say community response has already been positive.
Patient visits are going up and calls from vendors and bill collectors have gone down.
Administrators say even though many vendors are still waiting to be paid, most are still providing critical services to the hospital.
The hospital has about four months to come up with a plan to repay its debts.
It owes more than 5 million dollars.
