A one-year-old boy remains in critical condition after an accident on Interstate 81 yesterday.

Lifeguard 10 flew the little boy to the hospital. Troopers say his grandmother was driving near Arcadia, going slower than the speed limit. A tractor trailer driver came up behind her, slammed on the brakes and cut to the right to avoid the car, but jackknifed. The tractor trailer driver is from Texas and has been charged with reckless driving. Neither the little boy's grandmother nor his mother were hurt-- that family is from Newport News.

A school bus driver's condition has been downgraded after a crash that sent more than a dozen people - most of them elementary-school students - to the hospital Wednesday morning.
Ferris Booth reportedly blacked out at the wheel before careening into a tree.
He was in stable condition, but is now listed in critical condition.
