Law officers say the father apparently used a shot gun and rifle in what appears to be a murder-suicide.
It happened yesterday in Sacramento, California.

The day is remembered for Japan's surprise aerial attack on the U-S naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
On the eve of the raid, Japanese Prime Minister Tojo informed the emperor that Japan would go to war against the United States.
The next morning, some 360 Japanese carrier-based warplanes took off for Pearl Harbor. A U-S Army Private noticed the planes on his radar screen, but he was told to disregard them since the base was expecting a flight of B-17's from the U-S mainland.
Within an hour, they realized the planes were not American, but Japanese. The attack began at 7:55 that morning and took the Americans by surprise.

The United States had broken the Japanese diplomatic code and knew an attack was coming. A warning had been sent from Washington, but the transmission was delayed and did not arrive until after the attack had begun.
Within two hours, the Japanese planes hit, sunk, or severely damaged eight U-S battleships, including the U-S-S Arizona and 14 smaller ships. They also destroyed 200 aircraft. More than 23-hundred people lost their lives.
The next day, Congress declared war against Japan and the United States entered World War 2.
