It is just one of several aircraft crashes around the nation tonight.

Deadly plane crashes tonight in New Jersey and Missouri but first to California where a United States Marine Helicopter with 18 people aboard crashed 25 miles off the San Diego Coast.
Rescuers pulled eleven people from the water- but the search goes on tonight for seven others who are still missing.

A small plane went down west of Branson Missouri- killing six people.
This is the scene in a wooded area where the plane went down.
Fire officials say the Citation aircraft was apparently headed for the college of the Ozarks, but went down about five miles away. No word on whether any students were aboard the plane.

And yet another plane crash tonight. This one in a New Jersey neighborhood.
A twin engine Beech Baron 58 burst into flames after crashing into a detached garage in Hasbrouck (Haz-brook) Heights - about ten miles west of New York City.
Three people on the plane were killed - a fourth was critically injured.
Two people on the ground were also hurt.
No word yet on what may have caused the crash.

That's the highest number of executions in the Commonwealth in one year, since the death penalty was re-instated in 1982.

And while these fires threatened homes and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars -- there is a positive to be found amid the charred landscape.

Work has halted at K-T-I Energy's 14-person Martinsville plant, where Tultex was the ONLY customer.

The Corey Moore trophy tour placed the Virginia Tech senior defensive end, who is now a consensus all-American, in Orlando yesterday.

Moore was in the sunshine state as a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik award given to the defensive player of the year voted on by the coaches and members of the press.
But Lavar Arrington of Penn State would take home this trophy.
Wisconsin's Ron Dayne won the Doak walker award given to the top running back in the land. UVa's Thomas Jones was one of the finalist who was asked about going into the NFL next season.

Roanoke college has moved the start times of the January fourth opening day games in the Domino's/Lewis Gale Men's basketball tournament. The games will now tip off at 2pm and 4pm INSTEAD of 5:30 and 7:30.

The Maroons need not change anything. They are 7 and 1 and are riding a seven game win streak. Roanoke is ranked 25th in two division three national polls and the Maroons are a perfect 4 and OH in the ODAC. Junior Jason Strickland is leading the RC charge, averaging 20.5 points and nearly seven rebounds per game. He also leads Roanoke with 31 steals on the season. The Maroons are off until the January fourth tournament.
