National Catalog Corporation set up operations in Martinsville four months ago and is now expanding.

The company is planning to set up a second business in the former Pluma plant in the Bowles Industrial park.
The expansion will include a new e-commerce distributing and customer service center and is expected to create 200- new jobs over the next six months.

Danville police hope an autopsy will determine what killed a woman whose body was found in a grassy lot yesterday morning.
Police say there were no visible signs of injury to Angela Terry Newman.
Her body was found at the corner of Betts and Winslow streets.

A jury yesterday sentenced a former carnival worker who shot and killed women in Virginia and Tennessee to life in prison.

Bradley Duane Osborne was sentenced for killing his former girlfriend at an Abingdon motel in October of '96.
He then stole her car and shot and killed another woman in Tennessee.
Osborne was already serving life in prison for her murder.

A car accident this morning in Lynchburg kills a local woman. 79 year old Berneice Morris died after failing to stop at a red light and hit a Blazer at the intersection of Ford Avenue and Graves Mill Road. Morris died at the scene. The driver and two passengers in the Blazer were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Traffic was tied up for over an hour.
