A hotel lobby in southern Florida filled with visiting football fans... not Miami, but in Tampa... five people were killed.
The first four were shot in the lobby of the Radisson Hotel in downtown Tampa.
A fifth person was killed during a carjacking that followed.
At least three other people were wounded.
There's a suspect in custody. Police say the man was an employee of the hotel, but they don't have a motive.

(NATS)

It was mid-afternoon when shots rang out inside the Radisson Bay Harbor Hotel in Tampa.

(NATSOT)

The hotel was crowded with guests, many of them in town for a New Year's Day football game, when police say the hotel worker went on his shooting rampage. When it was all over, five people were dead. Three injured.

(SOT: Dick Greco, Tampa Mayor)

181311 "I think it's extremely tragic of course, and thank God the police department apprehended this person. Who knows what would have happened if he had been on the loose much longer."
Police say the worker was a 36 year old Cuban on duty at the time of the attack. After shooting four people inside the hotel, he fled, and came face to face with another worker coming in for his paycheck.

(SOT: Rafael Barrios, Hotel Employee)

181240 "He came up with a gun, pointed at me through the window and I ran."
Police say the gunman then tried to carjack a woman. She resisted and was also shot and killed. Minutes after the shootings began, and only a short distance from the hotel, police finally arrested the suspect.
