Chapter Shows

  • The California Chapter will hold its sixth annual show a "Gorgeous Rhodorama' outdoors this year at the Hall of Flowers, Strybing Arboretum, Golden Gate Park. Mr. James W. Leader is Show Director. Mr. P. H. Brydon, representing the Strybing Arboretum, is co-Director. There will be "no admission charge, nothing to buy or sell'; sounds like a real deal.
  • The Eugene Chapter will hold their show on May 14 at the regular location in Hendricks Park.
  • The New York Chapter will have their annual show on May 21 at Planting Fields, Oyster Bay, Long Island. The New York Chapter, in the past, has had special exhibits at other large horticultural exhibitions. We're sure they will be calling the attention of the public to rhododendrons at every opportunity.
  • The Olympic Chapter will have a show at Tumwater Falls Park although the date is not known at this writing.
  • The Philadelphia Chapter will have their show at the Trenton Trust, entries to be made on May 21 and removed on May 24, with the show open May 22, 23.
  • The Portland Chapter will have their show slightly earlier this year, May 6 and 7, at the usual place in the Test Garden.
  • The Seattle Chapter's Study Group will stage its fourth Early Season Rhododendron Competition, Apr. 8-9, in the Nisqually Room of the Seattle Center. Entries will be received 6 to 9 P.M., Apr. 7 and 7 to 9 A.M. Apr. 8 and the show will open at 2 P.M. Apr. 8. These Early Competitions have brought out some excellent species exhibits.
  • The Seattle Chapter Show will be May 18-21, the place to be announced. The Shelton Chapter announces a show for May 20, 21 at Simpson Court, 3rd and Franklin in Shelton.
  • The show of the Southeastern Chapter will be held in connection with the Annual Meeting of the Society, May 7-9 at the Grove Park Inn, Asheville, North Carolina.
  • The Tacoma Chapter Show is scheduled tentatively for May 12, 13 and 14 at The Tacoma Mall.
