Frank S. Curto
We were saddened to learn that Frank S. Curto, a prominent and active member of the Great Lakes Chapter of the A.R.S. passed away on February 23rd, 1971. Mr. Curto was formerly President of the Pittsburgh Florists and Gardeners Club. Secretary-Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Nurserymen's Association and Director of the Men's Garden Club. He was the recipient of the 1970 Sylvan Award of the Society of American Florists and the Johnny Appleseed Award of the Men's Garden Club of America in 1969. Frank received his Master of Science degree in ornamental horticulture from Ohio State University. He was Head Horticulturist for the Pittsburg Department of Parks and Recreation and directed the famous Fall Flower Shows at Phipps Conservatory in Schenley Park for 23 years. In his travels, many honors came to him from organizations of his professional peers. He will be missed by his many friends in this country and abroad.
