1974 Bronze Medal Award Middle Atlantic Chapter

Mrs. Richard H. Clemmer Bronze Medal
FIG. 7. Mrs. Richard H. Clemmer
received the Bronze Medal from Dr.
Irving R. Roberts, president of the
Middle Atlantic Chapter.

Mrs. Richard H. Clemmer was the recipient of the Bronze Medal at the October meeting of the Middle Atlantic Chapter. The award was made in recognition of Mrs. Clemmer's extensive knowledge of horticulture and her generosity in sharing her garden with the public.
The citation presented to her noted that she had created "an all-year garden of great beauty featuring a distinctive collection of hybrid rhododendrons and azaleas." Freely sharing her garden with the general public throughout the year, Mrs. Clemmer has made "it a superior test demonstration of the adaptability of rhododendron and azaleas in the difficult soil and climate conditions of the Shenandoah Valley with the result that there has developed an interest and use of rhododendron and azaleas in hundreds of private home gardens" in this area.
