JARS v44n4 - In Memoriam: Gertrude L. Sullivan

In Memoriam: Gertrude L. Sullivan
Bob and Jay Murray
Colts Neck, New Jersey

It was with sadness that we learned of the death of Trudy Sullivan on May 9,1990. A member of the New Jersey Chapter since 1966 and an associate member of the Princeton Chapter, she was a true lover of nature whose interests encompassed wildlife as well as horticulture.
In addition to acting as chapter secretary-treasurer for several years, Trudy served on the Nearing and the Plant Exchange Committees, was a knowledgeable truss show judge, and chaired or assisted with activities such as publicity, hospitality, and dinner meetings. She made a special point of welcoming new members and visitors to the chapter and making them part of the group. In recognition of these and other contributions, the New Jersey Chapter awarded the ARS Bronze Medal earlier this year jointly to Trudy and her husband, Bill.
Trudy traveled the world to explore nature and rhododendrons, and she especially enjoyed attending the ARS National Conventions where she could visit gardens and renew friendships. Her dedication and friendliness will be missed by all who knew her.
