Tamiment Resort
Tamiment Resort, Eastern Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania

What would be better than to spend a few days enjoying the fall colors high in the Eastern Poconos while at the same time enriching your knowledge of rhododendrons and azaleas? The site chosen by our District 8 committee, Tamiment Resort at Bushkill Falls, Pennsylvania, offers comfortable, modern facilities, recreational amenities and meeting facilities that few can match. Geared for the whole family, Tamiment is a great place for the kids too. This is the kind of place where one might want to extend a vacation for a few extra days. This 2,200 acre mountain-top resort includes an 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, pools, saunas and jogging and biking trails.
After sessions and seminars, the adults will find a variety of ways to relax while those who just came along for the ride will have a chance to visit Gifford Pinchots mansion and gardens and Grey Towers and to shop the antique outlets and flea markets.
And speaking of program, those arriving Friday can share the savvy of Harold Greer's after dinner talk and meet our National Directors who will be present for their semi-annual meeting. Over the next day and a half, conferees will be hearing some really good speakers on timely subjects: hybridizers and new hybrids (Rhein Hybrids, Schroeder Hybrids, New Jersey Hybridizers, Hachmann Hybrids), native azaleas, good plant care, plant registration and tissue culture.
And as always, there is the temptation of the plant sale! If you're like the rest of us, you start out with the idea that you'll resist but invariably, end up buying "a few more". You won't be able to resist our great selection of goodies! So, during the summer, prepare a new bed, a spot for just a few more. Location wise, Tamiment, near Bushkill Falls, has good major highway access from northeast metropolitan areas on Route 209 near I-80 and I-84. Make plans to join us.
