Membership Drive
Dee Daneri, Executive Director

Chapters recognized for membership growth in 1998 were honored at the Western Regional Conference in Florence, OR. Based on existing number of members on Jan. 12, 1998, 13 chapters increased membership by at least 17 percent for the year. At the top of the list, the Noyo Chapter increased their membership by 32, bringing their total membership to 80 members, a 229 percent increase. Our two smallest chapters, Hawaii and Corvallis, each increased membership by 225 percent. Vancouver increased membership by 25 members, Greater Philadelphia by 19 members, Mason Dixon by 29 members. Whidbey Island brought in 19 new members and Cascade 17 new members. The Peace Arch Chapter grew by 6 new members meeting 100 percent of their challenge from 29 to 35 members. Lehigh Valley grew by 9, increasing to 36 new members, and Tennessee Valley gained 7 new members. William Bartram and Atlantic Region RSC also met the goal.

Very large chapters gaining new members included the Danish Chapter growing by 31 members and the Scottish Chapter bringing in 24 new members.
As Membership Chairman Mike Stewart says, EACH ONE REACH ONE - HOW? JUST ASK! This year let's all spread the news about the Society to newcomers and encourage all of our members to continue with the important work of the American Rhododendron Society.
