Wayne Messer: Statement
The images you see here are all Polaroid transfers, which I do from 35mm slides in both 3x4 and 8x10 sizes. The scenes are from Kentucky, Florida, New Hampshire, and Utah. The transfer technique creates an atmosphere that helps me to capture and evoke feelings I had growing up, when I was outside a lot more than I am now. So, though all fairly recent, these pictures feel like memories to me, and the possibility of the camera helping to recapture a sense of connection to the outside pulls me outdoors when I might, because of the demands of work or a need for rest, be reluctant to go.
