Abstract
There are three general purposes of this study. First, to examine the growth of the phenomenon of self-help education as a component of the educational system in Kenya,
and its role in the promotion of educational expansion. The second purpose was to identify issues that confront self help schools and how such issues inhibit the process of
educational development in Kenya third purpose of
the study was to analyze possible policy alternatives that
could be employed by the government of Kenya in its efforts
to bring positive changes among the majority of the rural
communities through Harambe school programs.
