Abstract
The preparation of 3-trifluoronethyl-2,5—d1hydrothiophene 1,1—diox1de (I) was attempted by means of a modified
Diels—A1der reaction of 2—trif1uoromethy 1-l,3-butadiene
(II) and sulfur dioxide. Evidence is given to support
the structure of the product of the Die1s-A1der reaction
as that assigned to I.
