Charles Champ Clark, 68

Charles Champ Clark of Chilhowie, a member of the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors from May 1987 until May 1990, died September 11.

Clark, who held a bachelor's degree in history from Emory and Henry, served as president of the Virginia Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services. He served in World War II, and received several Battle Stars and a Purple Heart.

A member of the Chilhowie Town Council for 16 years, Clark was chairman of the board of the Bank of Marion, past chairman of the Smyth County Democratic Committee, and served on the board of directors of Tazewell Farm Bureau.
