Spectrum Volume 17 Issue 15 - December 8, 1994

The next cycle for the University Exemplary Departments and Programs Awards will begin soon. The theme for 1995 is "managing faculty resources of time and talent effectively and creatively to fulfill stated departmental or program missions."

There will be a formal announcement in January; nominations will be due March 20, 1995. The selection of recipient departments will be made before the end of spring semester, with the celebration of the awards to follow in fall 1995 semester. Please consider nominating your own department or program, or another with which you are familiar. Listed below are the themes for future years.

1996: Developing and sustaining innovative and effective departmental approaches to introductory courses, graduate or undergraduate levels.

1997: Maintaining a high quality of advising both at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

1998: Working collaboratively across departmental boundaries to fulfill common or complementary goals.

1999: Effectively linking research with teaching, with particular concentration on innovative undergraduate programs.
