Virginia Tech Recycling

Spectrum Volume 19 Issue 01 - August 29, 1996

VIRGINIA TECH RECYCLING In the month of July, we recycled 124,257 pounds of material; we earned $1,285.15 dollars of revenue; we sent 330.05 tons of solid waste to the landfill; we spent $17,492.65 on landfill costs; we saved $2,288.70 in landfill fees by recycling.

Recycling Tip: VTR accepts number-6 styrofoam at the following locations: Derring Hall (west-end loading dock); McBryde Hall (bottom of service ramp); Hahn Hall (under stairwell, inside service door); Information Systems Building (by cardboard collection area). Number-6 styrofoam is brittle and breaks easily. If the styrofoam is "stretchy" and does not break when bent, it is not recyclable.
