Discussions with state Department Personnel and Training administrators on February 3 confirm that under the State Healthcare Contract, the networks available to state employees cannot change between enrollment periods.
For this reason, university faculty and staff members covered under the state contract can continue to use all three hospitals (Lewis Gale, Montgomery Regional, and Pulaski Community) without penalty through June 30, 1998.
In addition, to address the concerns of individuals covered under the state contact who live in outlying areas of Southwestern Virginia and in keeping with the state's contract with Trigon, such individuals can continue to use Montgomery Regional Hospital and Pulaski Community Hospital without penalty through June 30, 1999 when the state's contract with Trigon expires.
