Alumni Mall closing
to traffic

Spectrum Volume 20 Issue 32 - June 4, 1998

Alumni Mall will be closed to all normal traffic and parking beginning Monday, June 8.
The southern lane will remain open only for service-vehicle access to loading docks, handicap parking by Newman Library, and emergency vehicles.
The road is closing due to the construction of the Advanced Communication and Information Technology Center. This is a two-year project. The mall will remain closed to traffic throughout the summer. Beginning in late August 98 the southern lane of the mall will re-open to two-way traffic (no parking) for the 98-99 academic year.
The mall will close again in May 99 and not open again until completion in the summer of 2000. There will be no parking along Alumni Mall for the entire two years of the project. Alternate parking will be available in a new parking-lot extension at the southern end of the Shultz Hall lot. The Performing Arts Building parking lot will also close on June 8 for the entire project. Alternate handicap parking will be provided in the New Engineering Building parking lot and the new parking-lot extension by Shultz.
