Cross expands
grad programs

Spectrum Volume 20 Issue 33 - June 18, 1998

Dean Greg Brown has appointed Gerry Cross, former continuing-education director for the College of Forestry and Wildlife Resources, as director of the Northern Virginia Center's natural-resources programs.
This new position will oversee expansion of those programs. For the next two years, Cross will devote 60 percent of his time toward such development and will be at the Northern Virginia Center each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Initially the college intends to offer four courses to meet the demands of its constituents in Northern Virginia. A key element to expansion will be development of collaborative programs, which may be tied to the MBA and MPA, a certification program, and potentially a master-of-natural-resources degree.
"The D.C. area offers too good of an opportunity for us to ignore," Brown said. "This is another major commitment of our college and will involve perhaps 10 percent of our faculty. We also will be using adjunct faculty members along with technology."
