Edward "Eddie" Ferrell, 55, director of student life in the Athletic Department died Saturday, Aug. 29. Ferrell had been employed at Tech for 28 years, serving as head football trainer until his promotion in early August.
Ferrell was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and held posts at that university and Oregon State University. He also worked with the Minnesota Viking organization in the National Football League before coming to Virginia Tech to serve with former Head Coach Charlie Coffey. Ferrell's father, the late William Ferrell, was head football trainer at the University of Arkansas for 25 years.
In December, 1994, Ferrell received his master's degree in athletic administration from Tech.
Funeral services were scheduled to be held yesterday.
