Fralin Biotechnology Center. Coordinator for Biotechnology Outreach . The successful candidate should have an advanced degree in a biological science with a good working knowledge of molecular biology. Candidates with teaching experience at the high-school or community-college level, and/or experience with other outreach activities (i.e., industry) will be given priority. Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills are required. Responsibilities include: Design and conduct biotechnology workshops around Virginia, pursue outside funding for the program, network with biotechnology educators, both in Virginia and nationally, work with laboratory manager to coordinate and run equipment loan program, edit a quarterly newsletter, develop industry outreach programs to benefit Virginia's biotechnology industry and enhance economic development, and other duties as required. Pamplin College of Business. Associate Dean for Graduate and International Programs . The associate dean for Graduate and International Programs is responsible for all aspects of the MBA Program. In addition, the associate dean has primary responsibility for developing programs to enhance the appreciation and understanding of the international environment by students and faculty members of the college. The associate dean may be called upon from time to time to provide support for other graduate programs in the college. As director of the MBA Program, the associate dean is responsible for management and quality of the MBA staff and program, as well as student recruitment, advising, job placement, and alumni relations. The program includes two campuses, Blacksburg and Northern Virginia, and distance learning (TV delivery). As director of International Programs, the associate dean is expected to provide leadership in identifying and pursuing relevant opportunities for students and faculty members in the Pamplin College of Business. The associate dean serves as vice chair of the college's MBA Advisory Committee, Graduate Studies Committee, and International Programs Committee. The dean evaluates the performance of the associate dean annually. Every five years, a faculty review committee appointed by the dean evaluates the associate dean. Qualifications: Restricted to Pamplin College faculty members. Doctorate and full professor rank preferred. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Research Associate. With the Mobile and Portable Radio Research Group . This is a full-time employment position. Duties include: editing and combining technical papers, reports, and theses, with understanding of content. Able to conduct in-depth literature searches and track references. Requires ability to implement software solutions to maintain organization of technical materials, prepare technical information for presentation, and promote MPRG research endeavors to the technical public. Position also requires excellent oral and written communications skills, as frequent interaction with MPRG sponsors, publishers, students, and other faculty members is required. Candidates should have an MS in a scientific or technical area and experience as a researcher at the graduate level. Excellent software skills are required as well as a proficiency in learning new software packages as the position dictates. Excellent technical skills are also required to understand, communicate, assist with, and perform research assignments as necessary. Finally, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in handling a variety of tasks simultaneously and must command superior interpersonal-communication skills. Office of University Development. Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Through the development of strategic relationships and partnerships with corporations and foundations, the director of corporate and foundation relations is responsible for increasing charitable support for institutional programs and projects. Towards this goal the director works cooperatively with other university departments, including, but not limited to, Sponsored Research, Career Services, Economic Development, Corporate Research Center, and Continuing Education to maximize effectiveness of corporate and foundation relationships. Coordinates appropriate cultivation and solicitation strategies, including proposal preparation and submissions. Supervises administrative faculty and staff, including two associate directors, and an executive secretary. Serves as a member of the senior management team for University Development, reporting to the associate vice president. National travel is required. BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred. Proven track record in corporate or foundation relations, preferably at a comprehensive research university.
