Mr. William Witcher Moschler, age 76, of Route 6, Box 430, Danville, died Wednesday evening in Riverside Health Care Center after declining health. Mr. Moschler was born on June 2, 1913, in Chatham, a son of William Moschler and Mary Sue Witcher Moschler. He had lived his early life in Chatham and Blacksburg for a number of years. He returned to this area in 1988. He was an Emeritus Associate Professor of Agronomy at Virginia Tech until his retirement in 1975 after 26 years in Agronomy Research. He was a member of several professional and scientific societies and received honorary recognition and awards for Pioneer Agronomic Research, especially in No-Tillage Corp Reduction. He was included in an honorary biography in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of West End Christian Church. On January 26, 1941, he was married to the former Carrie Elizabeth Clark who survives. In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Frances Elizabeth Hurd, Danville; one son, William W. Moschler Jr., Knoxville, Tenn.; five brothers, Clarence V. Moschler, Gretna; Leslie V. Moschler, Elks Ridge, Md.; Melvin B. Moschler, Christiansburg; Cecil C. Moschler, Chatham; Joseph Moschler, Midlothian; five grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday from Barker Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. V. Thomas Banks. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward B. Hurd, 496 Hawthorne Drive, Danville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Danville Life Saving and First Aid Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, Va. 42541.
