FREE PROGRAMS AT VIRGINIA TECH

The following events are being offered free to the public at Virginia Tech:

"The English Seminar Series" will present Karen Swenson at 4 p.m. Monday in 120 Williams Hall. She will talk on "Hero and Monster in Verbal Combat: Genre Definition in Old Norse Literature."

"The Highlands in Chemistry" program holds open sessions at 4 p.m. in room 5 of Davidson Hall. John Tyson of biology will present "Traveling Waves in Excitable Media: From Chemistry to Cardiology" Thursday.

\ March 21, Hara Misra of biomedical sciences will talk on "Free Radicals in Cell Dysfunction."

\ March 29, Paul L. Corio, chemistry professor from University of Kentucky will present "Theory of Reaction Mechanisms."

\ April 5, Jimmy Ritter of physics will talk about "Applications of 1e, 2e Spectroscopy to Atoms, Molecules and Solids."

\ April 11, Ian Fleming from the University Chemical Labs in Cambridge will present "Studies in Organic Sythesis."

\ April 12, Fridovich from Duke University Medical Center will present "Paraquat and Superoxide: Stasis vs. Lethality."

\ April 17, Peter Uden from the University of Massachusetts will talk on "Element Specific Detection in Chromatography."

\ April 26, A.M. Zhabotinskii from the Institute of Biological Tests and Compounds, Kupavna, will talk on "Oscillations and Travelling Waves in Chemical and Biological Systems."

The Center for Theory and History of Architecture will begin video presentations at noon in Cowgill Hall's media room.
