EX-YOUTH WORKER GETS 15 YEARS FOR BURGLARY, THEFT

A former Waynesboro youth director received a 15-year prison sentence Thursday for several burglaries and thefts in Staunton.

Patrick L. Rhodes, 43, who faces 20 years on similar charges in Harrisonburg, pleaded guilty under a plea agreement that calls for the sentences in the two localities to run concurrently.

He also faces similar charges in Albemarle County, Charlottesville and Rockingham County.

Rhodes pleaded guilty in Staunton to the theft of 35 Oriental rugs from a van Jan. 22, 1988. He also admitted to breaking into a residence May 17, 1988, and stealing a grandfather clock, antique arm chair and an oil painting. He also pleaded guilty to a break-in Sept. 10, 1988, at a residence where he stole a diamond ring.Rhodes was director of youth services in Waynesboro from May 1983 to May
