LYNCHBURG MAN DIES IN CAIRO HOTEL FIRE

One Lynchburg businessman died and another escaped when fire swept through their hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

Arnaldo "Arnie" Martinez, 46, the father of five children, died in the Wednesday night blaze and Mark Hannah, 36, was pulled to safety through a second-story window, The News & Daily Advance said in a copyright story.

Sixteen people died and 70 were injured in the fire.

Martinez and Hannah, Ericsson GE Mobile Communications employees, had been at the hotel for several days working on a potential sales deal with the Egyptian government, said GE spokesman Jack Radgowski.
