SEAL SOUGHT FOR CITY'S SCHOOLS

The Commonwealth of Virginia has one. The city of Radford has one. The Radford school system also wants one. And so the School Board has agreed to sponsor a contest to create an official seal.

"We don't have one and we'd like to have one," Superintendent Michael Wright said.

Assistant Superintendent Virginia East suggested the contest with a cash prize of "$50 or some other appropriate amount" to the winner. The contest would be open to students, and especially those in art and drafting.

"I think it would be something that would be nice to have. Most schools have them," East told the board.

The final selection would be up to the School Board. Chairman John McPhail suggested first setting up a committee to screen the entries. - RICK LINDQUIST
