The show is open to artists 18 and older who live with 60 miles of Roanoke. Works must be original and no more than two years old. They cannot have been previously exhibited in the city show.
Ned Rifkin, chief curator for exhibitions at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden of the Smithsonian Institution, will be juror for the show.
He will make his selections from slides, which must be received by the arts council by 5 p.m. Friday, March 16.

The show will be in the second-floor galleries of the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts Art in Center in the Square. It will open April 26 and continue through May 31.
There will be a best-in-show award of $500, plus five awards of excellence worth $200 apiece. All will be selected by Rifkin.
In addition, there will be a $100 prize for the piece named "People's Choice" by vote of visitors to the exhibit.
There will be an opening reception at the show from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 26. The Perry F. Kendig awards for service to and achievement in the arts will be presented during the reception. They are sponsored by the arts council.
Following the reception, from 7 to 8 p.m., there will be a poetry reading. It is sponsored by Artemis, an organization of writers and artists of the Blue Ridge region.
