The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in St. John's Episcopal Church, Roanoke. It is open to the public at a cost of $8 for adults and $4 for students.
The choir will perform music by Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Thomas Weelkes, J.S. Bach, Benjamin Britten, John Rutter, Jean Langlais and Zoltan Kodaly, among others.
Timothy Brown, director of music at Clare College, is conductor of the choir. The organ accompanists are Dominic Wheeler and Peter Clements.
The Choir of Clare College was formed in 1971 and normally has a complement of 22 male and female voices. It sings at choral service three times weekly in the college chapel, and concertizes in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Its first American tour was in 1987. When touring the U.S., the choir is enlarged slightly to compensate for larger concert spaces.
In 1985, the choir took part in Bach and Handel tercentenary celebrations in Cambridge and Heidelberg. It toured Germany the following year and ended the tour with a concert observing the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Liszt.
Tickets for the March 18 concert can be reserved by sending a check to St. John's Episcopal Church at Jefferson Street and Elm Avenue Southwest, Roanoke, Va. 24016.
