NAMES ON CAMPUS

\ JIM KNIPE, art department chairperson, has had photographs of New River Valley scenes accepted in Photowork '90, a national juried exhibition at the New Gallery, University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. He also had a one-person exhibit at the Exit Gallery, University of Nevada at Reno.

Radford University won two awards in the 1989 Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III competition. Radford magazine received an award of excellence in the alumni magazine category. In the July 1989 issue, an illustration by MARTIN BENNETT with an essay by English professor RICHARD MURPHY received special merit.

\ FRED PHLEGAR, professor of educational studies, had a paper published in North Carolina Education.

\ ANTON PETER MUELLER, Fulbright scholar-in-residence and associate professor of economics, gave a presentation at the Institute of International Finance in Washington, D.C.

\ MICHAEL CRONIN, director of the oral communication Program, has been appointed to the editorial board of Virginia Communication Quarterly.

\ DAVID BRUSSELL, assistant professor of biology, will teach a summer course on the influence of botanical resources on ancient Greek medical practice.

\ STEVEN K. PONTIUS and BERND KUENNECKE, geography professors, have received an educational grant from Mapping Information Systems Corp.

\ JOLANTA WAWRZYCKA, assistant professor of English, was coordinator and academic program director for the annual James Joyce Conference in Miami.
