BEACH MUSIC WEEKEND BRINGING OUT MEMORIES

An April festival of beach music, showcasing the tunes and performers that made up the sound track of East Coast summers going back to the '50s, is coming up.

Stars from the '50s and '60s are scheduled to perform the week of April 4-8, including Frankie Avalon, Buster Poindexter, The Spinners, Gary U.S. Bonds, Percy Sledge, Lesley Gore and The Drifters.

Clubs and restaurants will begin featuring live beach music April 4.

Events pick up steam on the 6th, a Friday, with a celebrity welcome party and a concert.

Saturday's events include a street dance and a beach music awards bash that is to be telecast nationally, featuring the stars of beach music. An all-you-can-eat seafood festival is part of the weekend.

The events conclude Sunday, April 8, with a free outdoor Hollywood-style revue.
