It received the "Best Marketed Community" award for Wellesley in a category of developments of 201 acres or more. Linda Orr, sales and marketing director for the project, reports sales of $47 million at the community since it opened in August 1988. Wellesley has a total of 375 acres and includes a lake, a pond, a park, a retail site, three swimming pools, a clubhouse and a stadium-size tennis facility among its amenities.
Houses at Wellesley sell for from $105,000 to more than $500,000.
Snyder Hunt is in the planning stages for three other communities: Hethwood II on 338 acres in Blacksburg; Stratford, 438 acres in Leesburg; and Wyndham, 1,250 acres about two miles from Wellesley in Henrico County.
The Leesburg project is a joint venture with N.V. Ryan.
The company also is developing Waverly on 130 acres at Smith Mountain Lake.
David Reemsnyder is president of Snyder Hunt and Daniel Van Epp is vice president for the Central Virginia Region.
Kim Tickle Radford has joined the Multiple Listing Service of the Roanoke Association of Realtors as member services director. Tickle, a native of Bland, formerly worked with the U.S. Department of Commerce in the Christiansburg area.
Among his duties will be the updating of the MLS computer system and automation of the office. Tickle is a graduate of Chadwick University in Alabama with a degree in business administration.
Ruth Owens joined MLS in November as member services assistant. She is a native of Salem and a graduate of Virginia Western Community College with a degree in business administration.
Inform, a bimonthly design magazine published by the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects, made its debut last month with a former senior editor of Progressive Architecture as its editor.
Vernon Mays, a native of Virginia who has returned to head the magazine, said he wants to create a forum for Virginians in the design field and give readers a look at new ideas.
Inform is the result of a long-range plan by the architects' group that wanted to see the society plan a role in architecture and design education. The Virginia society was co-publisher of Virginia Record until 1987 when it withdrew from that project and began plans for the new publication.
Initial circulation for Inform is 12,000. Subscriptions are $16 a year for six issues or $4 an issue and can be ordered by phoning 804-644-4031.
Dennis R. Cronk, a broker and principal with Waldvogel, Poe & Cronk Real Estate Group, has been elected president of the Virginia Real Estate Educational Foundation. He is a past president of the Virginia Association of Realtors and is a director with the national association.
Deyerle Associates Realtors has put two houses belonging to the Cave Spring Rescue Squad on the market and also has agreed to donate its agent fee from the sale of the properties to the squad's building fund. The houses are near Cave Spring Corner, said Ann Deyerle, firm owner, who is marketing them along with her son, Jim, and husband, Jay. Another son, David, is a volunteer with the rescue squad, she said.
LoMEL Realty of Roanoke has affiliated with Century 21, the national real estate sales network. LoMEL owner Lois Meskiel opened the firm in 1988 with Charles Lovell. Their offices are on Williamson Road.
The Society of Real Estate Appraisers Roanoke Valley Chapter 170 will offer an Applied Residential Property Valuation course beginning March 16 at the Arnold R. Burton Vocational School in Salem. The cost is $400 for members and $450 for non-members. The class meets on Fridays from 1-8 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Joseph S. Durrer Jr. will teach the course.
