CHRISTIANSBURG - Mr. Ollie W. Sowers, age 76, of Route 4 (Vicker) went to meet the Lord Saturday, March 3, 1990. Mr. Sowers was a member of the Edgemont Christian Church and was a retired employee of Radford Army Ammunitions Plant. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Violet M. Sowers; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald L. and Dama Sowers, Roanoke; Clarence E. and Edna Sowers, Christiansburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Boyd Thompson, Christiansburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Covey, Mabscott, W.Va.; one half sister, Lula Williams, Radford; one half brother, Jesse Davis, Colonial Heights. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Sutphin and the Rev. Sonny Furrow. Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to may make memorials to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va., 24073. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
