PULASKI - Ella Eckman Walker Beaver, age 69, of 121 Carriage Hill Drive, Pulaski, died Saturday night in the Pulaski Community Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Pulaski, Va. and was the only daughter of the late Percy Eckman Walker and Elizabeth Holmes Walker. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Holmes Walker. Mrs. Beaver retired in 1985 from the Anaerob Laboratory as a laboratory specialist at VPI for 17 years. Mrs. Beaver was the first lady to retire from the Anaerob Lab in the history of this laboratory. Upon retirement from the Anaerob Lab, Mrs. Beaver returned to her birthplace. Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Susan Beaver, Roanoke; two sons, George Gilbert Beaver, Dublin; Richard Walker Beaver, Marathon, Fla.; two brothers, Isaac Lewis Walker, Charleston, W.Va.; James Hart Walker, Greenup, Ky. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. Visiting will be Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Stevens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
