NO TOP LOTTO WINNER; JACKPOT NEXT WEEK MAY BE $3 MILLION

Virginia Lotto players got lucky two weeks in a row, but failed to correctly pick all six of the winning numbers last week, lottery spokeswoman Paula Otto said.

Forty people won $1,913 after picking five of the six winning numbers in Saturday night's drawing.

The lottery sold 2.18 million tickets last week, up slightly from 2.11 million the week before, Otto said.

She estimated next week's jackpot at $3 million.

The state's first Lotto winner was Anthony Palermo of Virginia Beach who won $7 million in the Feb. 17 drawing. The second winner, Tina L. Saunders of Roanoke County, won $1.6 million a week ago.
