NO CHARGES IN BOMB THREAT ON USAIR PLANE

The assistant U.S. attorney has decided not to press charges against a couple who told USAir officials there was a bomb aboard a DC-9, an FBI agent said.

The plane was forced to make an emergency landing Monday, shortly after takeoff from Norfolk International Airport, USAir spokeswoman Susan Young said.

Young said a search by the state police and FBI failed to find any bomb and the airplane was allowed to continue on its way.

The two people were not arrested, FBI Special Agent Jim Waters said.

Waters said the U.S. attorney may recommend that USAir file a civil lawsuit against the couple, whose names have not been released.
