U. OF CONN. HEAD MAY BE UP FOR UVA POST

The president of the University of Connecticut, a former Virginia education secretary, is reportedly among five finalists for the presidency of the University of Virginia.

John Casteen, also a former dean of admissions at UVa, told The Daily Campus at UConn that he was aware that UVa's search committee is considering him for the post.

Casteen said he had spoken to members of the search committee, but would not comment further on those discussions.

UVa President Robert O'Neil is stepping down to become the director of the new Thomas Jefferson Center for Protection for Free Expression at the university.
