WYTHEVILLE MAYOR SEEKS RE-ELECTION

WYTHEVILLE - Mayor Carl Stark said Tuesday that he would seek another four-year term to continue efforts to provide innovative ideas for the town.

Stark, a physician who has been mayor since 1962, is being challenged by former Town Council member Trent Crewe. Crewe, a Wytheville lawyer, announced his candidacy Saturday.

Stark cited new water and sewer lines, planned improvements for newly annexed parts of town, a combined Wythe County industrial authority to seek new industry, and more recreation including a planned new swimming pool as some of those innovations.

"I wish to continue our cooperative efforts with the county which we have developed over the years, which I believe are better now than they have ever been," he said.
