USAIR PERFORMANCE STATISTICS IMPROVE

USAir improved the number of its on-time flights and received fewer baggage-handling complaints in January, the Transportation Department says.

The monthly Air Travel Consumer Report put USAir 11th on its list of 12 major carriers for percentage of flights arriving on time in January - 74.8 percent. Eastern was last on the list. USAir has been ranked last for several months.

USAir, the principal carrier serving Roanoke, also moved from first to third on the list of airlines with chronically late flights. It had 11.04 complaints of lost or mishandled baggage per 1,000 passengers, the report said. - Associated Press
