PRINCETON, W.Va. - Robert Boyd Sparks, age 83, of Bluefield, W. Va., died Tuesday evening a Bluefield hospital. He was born in Mercer County, February 17, 1907, son of the late Robert Lee and Laura Robertson Sparks. He was a retired employee of the Norfolk Southern Railway, was a member of the Brotherhood of the Maintenance Right of Way, attended the Ada Chapel Church in Ada, and attended Mercer County Schools. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Sparks, and one grandson, Robert B. Sparks. Surviving are his wife, Stella Frances Roland Sparks, Bluefield; one daughter, Sandra G. Sparks, Bluefield; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Roberta Sparks, Pulaski; Raymond and Brenda Sparks, Swartz Creek, Mich.; and Gary and Patsy Sparks, Radford, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Louella Boyd, Grafton, Va.; one brother, Hubert L. Sparks, Longview, Washington; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel, Princeton, with Rev. Junior Osborne and Rev. James Spradlin officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Bluefield, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. today.
