MANY FOREIGN FIRMS' HEADQUARTERS IN VA.

A study of foreign-owned companies in the Washington area found almost half have U.S. headquarters in Northern Virginia.

Of 129 companies identified from 15 countries, 62 are in Virginia, 52 are in Maryland and 15 are in the District of Columbia, according to the accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick. Of these, 39 are in Fairfax County, 10 in Arlington County and six in Loudoun County. - Staff report
