Kluge - a former nude model and the wife of Albemarle County billionaire John Kluge - was the butt of several zingers Thursday in an annual speech lampooning the actions of the House of Delegates.
Del. Vince Callahan, R-McLean, went after Kluge right at the beginning of a 16-page speech on the House floor.
Callahan called Kluge "the only former nude model in the world now to determine educational policy in the august halls of Jefferson's beloved university."
Kluge, now 41, posed nude at age 19 for Knave, a British men's magazine published by her first husband.
She later married Kluge, who contributed $200,000 to Wilder's gubernatorial campaign last year. Patricia Kluge, who has no college degree, will take her seat on the prestigious UVa board this month.
Callahan later suggested the state would be better served if Kluge were appointed instead to the board of the all-male Virginia Military Institute.
"Her talents would be better appreciated by red-blooded VMI cadets than by wimpy UVa students," Callahan said.
Moreover, Kluge had "already demonstrated her ability to finance a war on defenseless birds," Callahan said, referring to several employees of the 9,000-acre Kluge farm convicted of killing hundred of hawks to protect pheasants Patrician Kluge had raised for hunting.
Patricia Kluge, who rarely consents to interviews, could not be reached for comment Thursday.
