Fire officials searched the smoldering ruins to see if anyone was inside when the blaze broke out, but neighbors said no one had been seen near the house in the past few days, Police Officer Russell Case said.
"It's just leveled," said Patricia Slagle, who lives next door. "There's really nothing to find. If there had been anybody in the house they just wouldn't have survived."
The 4,000 square-foot house on Lake Wylie had room-sized closets and an air-conditioned dog house when Bakker and his wife, Tammy Faye, lived there.
Robert Rubino bought the home during the PTL bankruptcy proceedings. Rubino was believed to be in New York on business.
